I have an Indian classmate who is a super fan of Apple. All his electronics are Apple devices. Recently he encountered a problem that bothered him and had no idea to solve it.

His parents are not good at using the computer, much less the cloud technology. For this reason he can't use iCloud to send his videos about his school life to his parents. Unfortunately, our school has a terrible network which means that he can't use the WIFI to send them either. Hence he has to use the CD compact disc to record his videos so that he can send it to his motherland.

Then here comes the problem again, all his videos are in M4V format which is not supported by the DVD player. The truth is that the DVD player only supports DVD, CD, MPEG2 and Divx AVI. The most common format DVD player uses is MPEG2, one type of MPEG. So he decides to find some M4V to MPEG converter MAC to convert all the M4V videos to MPEG.

I'm sure he is not the only one who has had this problem, but before that, I think we should learn about what are M4V and MPEG first.

Part 1: Brief introduction of M4V and MPEG

MPEG is one of a number of file extensions for MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 audio and video compression. This format is widely used on Mac, Windows,DVD player and other portable devices and it is designed to compress audio and video to formats that can be downloaded, which makes movies become much little with higher quality.

Differing from MPEG, M4V is a special video format developed by Apple which is similar to the MP4 format. The distinction between MP4 and M4V is that M4V can be optionally protected by DRM copy protection. Here we could consider that M4V has two type modes, one is protected by DRM copy protection and the other one doesn't have DRM copy protection. But no matter which type the M4V videos are, it can't be played on the DVD player. Is there any method can play M4V on the DVD player or convert M4V to some formats supported by the DVD player like MPEG? In the next part I will show you two methods about how to convert M4V to MPEG.

Part 2: Convert M4V to MPEG with Leawo Video Converter

It's not difficult to know from above that we can't record M4V videos to a CD compact disk. The most efficient way to play M4V videos on a DVD player is to convert M4V to MPEG which supported by DVD player. Fortunately, we can easily find a M4V to MPEG converter on the Internet.
