Step 1. Go to Settings > iCloud > Keychain and tap on iCloud Keychain to turn it on.

Step 2. Enter your Apple ID if prompted, and set password. Follow the onscreen instructions.

There’re three ways to set the iCloud Keychain password.

  • 1. Use iPhone password as the security password.
  • 2. Create a new security code.

Use iCloud Keychain on New Device

Before using iCloud Keychain on new device, you have to activate the function, and the device will receive a notification requesting for approval when the iCloud Keychain was turned on. After approval, the iCloud Keychain starts updating on new device.

What if your device is lost or phone number is changed?

  • 1. If you lose all the approved devices, you can still connect to the iCloud Keychain by SMS. Once you turn on the iCloud Keychain on new device, a verification code will be sent via SMS to the phone number you provided on iCloud Keychain before. Confirm and start updating.
  • 2. If you more or worse lose the phone which you previously provided number on iCloud Keychain, or forgot to update the new phone number, contact Apple Support, who will help with your personal identity verification for further setup of iCloud Keychain.

Information AutoFill Operation

To realize information auto-fill on websites, we should input the information in iCloud Keychain, and active the Safari auto-fill function.

  • 1. Settings > Safari > Password & AutoFill.
  • 2. Slide User Names and Passwords to the right for activation.

How to Recover My iCloud Keychain

1. In case of any undefined problems, which destroy the iCloud Keychain connection on the device, reset for recovery. All you need is your security code. Go to Settings>[your name]>iCloud>Keychain>Security Code Recovery.

2. Once you forgot the security code, reset and information will be updated on other devices when being used.

Navigate to Settings >[your name]>iCloud>Keychain>Reset Security Code.

After reset, the original device have to approve all devices again when used.

How to Remove iCloud Keychain

Just like activation, iCloud Keychain needs to be removed one by one for the same rules.

  • On iOS devices (iPhone, iPad, iPod, etc.): Go to Settings>[your name]>iCloud>Keychain>Advanced Settings. Turn off approve with security code, and go to each of your device to de-activate the keychain.
  • On computer: Open the Apple menu > System Preference > iCloud > Account Details. Deselect security code approval, and go to each of your device to de-activate the keychain.
