Have you ever come across the problem that you are not able to make any call or receive any text messages? And you may see an "Invalid SIM" or "No SIM Card installed" alert on your iPhone. Generally, the error is the so-called iPhone SIM card failure. Try to check whether the iPhone SIM card is damaged, worn or not. If not, maybe there is some bug in it and it can be fixed well by following some methods. Hereby, I will introduce 5 methods showing you how to fix iPhone SIM failure.
Fix iPhone SIM Failure by Turning on Airplane Mode
The iPhone Airplane Mode is supposed to be turned off so that it can work normally. Swipe up from the bottom of your Home screen to open Control Center, then tap iPhone Airplane Mode icon.
Or you can also go to "Settings" > "Airplane Mode" and tap the slider to turn it on.

Keep pressing and holding the Power button until the red slider appears. Drag the slider to turn your device offcompletely . After the device turns off, press and hold the Power button again until you see the Apple logo.
Fix iPhone SIM Failure by Checking SIM Card
As we all know, if iPhone SIM Card is placed improperly inside the SIM tray, it will lead to SIM Card Failure error. Remove your SIM card from the SIM card tray and then put the SIM card back. Make sure that the SIM tray closes completely and is not loose. Do reinsert the tray completely and in the same orientation that you removed it (it will fit only one way).
Note: Make sure to use only the SIM tray that came with your iPhone device. For example, a SIM tray from an iPhone 6s will not fit in an iPhone 7 or another manufacturer’s model.
Fix iPhone SIM Failure by Updating Carrier Settings
Launch the Settings app on your iPhone. Now tap on "General" > "About". If there is a carrier update available for your iPhone, then it will immediately pop up in a matter of seconds. Otherwise, you cannot notice anything. If there is a "Carrier Settings Update" available, then tap on the "Update" button to go ahead and install it. Click "Not Now" button if you do not want to update it.
Fix iPhone SIM Failure by Restoring iPhone
You can restore iPhone with two different ways. If you cannot access to a computer, click "Settings" >"General" >"Reset" > "Erase All Content and Setting", then it will pop up a window asking you to enter passcode.
Or you can fix iPhone SIM failure by restoring iPhone with iTunes.

- 2. Connect your iPhone to a computer with the cable that came with your device.
- 3. If a message asks for your device passcode or to Trust this Computer, follow the onscreen steps.
- 4. Select your iPhone when it appears in iTunes.

Note: make sure you have backup all your information ahead before restoring the iPhone. After restoring your iPhone, you can set it up as new so you might need a program to help you recover all the data to your iPhone. Here I would like to introduce a third party tool to help you perform data recovery, Leawo iOS Data Recovery. It is the best iOS data recovery software since it enables iOS owners to recover data from various modes to ensure successful data recovery, including: iOS device data recovery mode, iTunes data recovery mode and iCloud data recovery mode.
Step 1: Open this data retrieval program. There are 3 tabs on the interface. If you have previously backed up your iPhone with iTunes, click the second tab to recover data from iTunes.
Step 2: All the backups you have would be listed on the interface, choose the one you'd like to recover to your iPhone and click Scan.
Step 3: All the recoverable data would be devided into different categories on the left column. Click on them to check out the files on the right side.
Step 4: You can choose to recover all the files at the same time or pick those you need to be recovered to your iPhone. When you finish choosing, click the Recover button on the bottom-right. A window would pop up. The files you've chosen to be recovered to your iPhone would be backed up to your computer at the same time. Set the directory for the backup and click Go to start recovering data to your device.
iPhone SIM card failure occurs at times. In fact, it happens without any particular reason. If you still see an alert about your SIM card after trying the methods that we have shown you above, you should probably contact Apple support for help.
