I’ve had an iPhone 4S for a year and a half and during that time, my son added many apps which he used. He now has own 4S. If he sets up his own Apple ID, can these apps be transferred over to him? — from Apple Community
If you and your family members own different Apple IDs, and you want to share paid apps with each other’s iPhones, you will get no luck. The paid apps are tied to the Apple ID that is used for buying them, so different apps with different Apple IDs can’t be copied or moved within iTunes.
iCloud doesn’t provide help here. Although you can upload apps to the cloud with your Apple ID and download the apps to the iPhone with different Apple ID, you probably won’t want to do that because after you authorize that iPhone to use your Apple ID, the contents of the two iPhones will mess up.
