Chris, Sonia’s easy-going boyfriend who proposed suddenly to her and giving her the 3-day ultimatum to decide whether she’ll join the rank of her married friends and marry him or take a step forward and pursue her fantasies. Filled with anxiety, and led towards a fantastical idea of becoming the kind of person she have always been idealizing in movies and literature, Sonia decides she’s not ready for the marriage. And instead of getting married she will go on a trip to Rome by herself and finally shed her inhibitions. Yet reality rapidly catches up to her as her journey seems a lot bumpier than the ideal “Eat Pray Love” she’d envisioned. It Had To Be You explores the choices women face nowadays while satirizing cultural expectations of gender and romance. It’s a whimsical romantic comedy that’s raunchy and yet gentle.

The director of this file is Sasha Gordon. She’s an award-winning filmmaker and composer. Born in St. Petersburg, Russia, Sasha immigrated to the US in 1989. She has scored over 50 features and shorts(among them the Oscar-winning “God Of Love”); directed several award-winning shorts(including “Manhattan Melody”, which premiered at the Telluride Film Festival and went on to play all over the world); and has just completed her debut feature, “It Had To Be You”, a subversive romantic comedy starring Cristin Milioti and Dan Soder. Sasha is currently scoring Amazon’s “Gortimer Gibbon’s Life On Normal Street” while writing her second feature.

Leading Actress:

The leading actress, Cristin Milioti was born August 16, 1985. She’s known for her work in Broadway theatre productions like That Face and the Tony Award-winning musical Once. She was also in the sitcom How I Met Your Mother playing Tracy McConnell. And she’s also playing Teresa Petrillo Belfort in the 2013 film The Wolf of Wall Street. She has won a Grammy Award and has been nominated for a Tony Award.
