iMessage is a great feature of Apple’s Messages app, especially when you sync all your devices together to access the long list of iMessage conversations. With the featured iMessage, you can send unlimited free messages over Wi-Fi to one person or to many friends at once along with photos, videos, locations, contacts or links attached. Compared with common text messages like SMS or MMS, iMessages has its unique advantages over the two common texting methods.
How to Differentiate iMessage from SMS and MMS
- The text bubble of iMessage is blue, different from green bubble of SMS.
- You can send an iMessage to one person or to many friends at once. When someone replies, everyone sees it.
- iMessage tells you if a message is read or received, so you can get a quicker response.
- When someone’s in the middle of a reply, iMessage shows you.
- iMessage is free and unlimited over Wi-Fi for anyone texting using an iOS device or Mac with iMessage. While, SMS and MMS are sent over an operator and priced based on per message sent.
