Part 1: Brief introduction to Nicovideo

Nicovideo, also known as Niconico and previously known as Nico Nico Douga is a Japanese video sharing service much like YouTube, Vimeo and the likes. It was launched in December 2006, and while it was only available in Japanese a few years ago, it is now available in English and Chinese. On this platform, users can upload, view, and share video clips. Registration to the service is also optional, which means you can watch anything without signing in. Interestingly, the first version of Nicovideo used YouTube as its main video source, but they later launched their own servers to promote their own service. Today, Nicovideo has over 2.07 million registered users, and it is in the top 31 most visited websites in Japan.
