I love my Nintendo Switch. Most days, I am racing on Mario Kart 8 Deluxe or playing The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. But sometimes, I just want to cozy up with a movie. And that’s when I began thinking: Is Disney Plus on Switch? I mean, what could be better than playing a game on your Switch and then jumping into Disney Plus to stream something like Zootopia or Avengers: Endgame, without ever putting the console down?

Unfortunately, it turns out that Disney Plus on Nintendo Switch isn’t as simple as downloading an app. But I didn't give up. After some testing, I have found several simple ways to still watch my favourite Disney Plus videos on my Switch. If you are like me and you enjoy alternating between gaming and streaming, you will want to try them out, too.

Can You Watch Disney Plus on Nintendo Switch?

No, there is no Disney Plus app for Nintendo Switch. Although Hulu and YouTube are available, Disney Plus is not an official thing yet for Switch.

How to Watch Disney Plus Video on Nintendo Switch

So, the app’s not on the Switch, but that doesn’t stop me from getting Disney Plus on Nintendo Switch. Here are the 4 ways.

2.1 Using the Hidden Web Browser

The Nintendo Switch actually has a built-in web browser, but it’s kind of hidden and requires a bit of setup to open. So, I can use this hidden browser to open Disney Plus on Nintendo Switch and watch videos directly.

But this method isn’t perfect. When I was using it, the playback was not that smooth and was buffered a lot. It can still be a useful way to simply watch my Disney Plus though, without installing extra apps. Now, let’s go into the steps to using:

Step 1: Open System Settings on your Nintendo Switch. Just find a gear icon and press on it.

Step 2: Go to Internet > Internet Settings.

Step 3: Select the Wi-Fi connection you are using.

Step 4: Select Change Settings.

Step 5: Scroll down and find DNS Settings.

Step 6: Change DNS from Automatic to Manual.

Step 7: Input 045.055.142.122 as the Primary DNS.

Step 8: Save the settings, then reconnect to the network.

Step 9: You should see “Registration is required.” Click Next.

Step 10: It will automatically show you a welcome to the SwitchBru DNS page. Just click on Continue to Google, and it will open the hidden browser.

Step 11: Now, you can use this browser to access the Disney Plus website to watch movies.

2.2 Using Plex Media Server

The second way I watch Disney Plus videos on my Switch is to use the Plex Media Server. This is a handy tool that lets me open the local Disney Plus files on smart devices via its server. So, in other words, you can view your wanted Disney Plus videos offline on Switch. All you need to do is install Plex on your computer, put the downloaded Disney Plus videos in the server, and you can play the videos on the Switch by opening the server page.

As for downloading Disney Plus movies, because of the DRM, I didn't use the official Disney Plus app. Instead, I used one of the best Disney Plus downloaders I found, after trying many options, the CleverGet Disney Plus Downloader. Here is my step-by-step experience:

Step 1: Use CleverGet Disney Plus Downloader to download movies on Disney Plus. Just find the video and copy the URL to CleverGet to download.

Step 2: Go to Plex's download page to install Plex Media Server on the PC.

Step 3: After installing, launch the program, and you will see the icon in the bottom right taskbar. Right-click on it and select Open the server.

Step 4: It opens the server settings page, and you need to click on the Media Library.

Step 5: Click Add a Library to begin adding your downloaded Disney Plus videos.

Step 6: Choose the video file as a movie, and click Next.

Step 7: Then, choose the folder that stores your downloads and click Add a Library to save the settings.

Step 8: Ok, you can now enter the Plex library URL in the Switch's hidden browser to watch the downloaded movies.

2.3 Uploading to YouTube

In addition to Plex, YouTube is also an alternative. Given the fact that there is an official YouTube app on Switch, I uploaded the Disney Plus videos I downloaded to my private channel, which I then watched. This is a way that also serves as cloud storage, which allows me to keep downloads for a long time. The process was similar to using Plex, and here they are:

Step 2: Go to your YouTube page. At the upper right corner, click on Create, then click on Upload Video.

Alright, here is the last method, and honestly, it is a bit crazy. You can actually turn your Nintendo Switch into an Android device so that you can install any apps like Disney Plus, just like you would on a phone or tablet.

The problem is that this only works on certain models that support RCM mode and haven’t been patched (you can go to the “Is my switch patched” page to check if your console is patched or not).

Plus, jailbreaking your Switch may lead to bricking your Switch, which means your console may not work. Or, your Switch may lose all the files in it. So, if you’re willing to take some risk, this way might be for you.

If you decide to do this, follow the setup guide covering clean installing Switchroot Android 11. This guide has everything you need to know, from preparations to step-by-step instructions. After you successfully install Android on your Switch, just go to the Google App Store to install Disney Plus.

Conclusion

Although there is no official Disney Plus app for Nintendo Switch yet, you can use the above 4 methods to watch Disney Plus movies on Switch. For my personal preference, I recommend using methods 2 and 3 because offline viewing is always away from playback issues.
